Why KHAN Regenesis?
Nigeria continues to grapple with her worst recession in 29 years and it to a large extent, has a bi-causal relationship with her unemployment rate. Unemployment in Nigeria increased between Q4(2015) and Q1(2016) from 19% to 21.5% respectively as youth unemployment in Q4(2015) was 53.5% of the total labor force, and increased to 56.1% in Q1(2016).
Economic exclusivity of strictly formal education in contemporary tertiary institutions constitutes a problem as it restricts a large fraction of the youth population (more than half) from accessing formal tertiary education. Despite the clamor for formal education, 47% of university graduates remain unemployed, since the vocational sector as an alternative means of livelihood remains unstructured and less beneficial to graduates.
In view of identified challenges in the sector, The Lagos State Government aims to train and empower thousands of Nigerians with vocational skills by 2020.
KHAN Regenesis aims to provide a structure for vocational sector education in Nigeria by propagating an ecosystem that offers Quality Training plus World-recognized Certifications, Online Artisan Database, Artisan Rating and Booking services, Local Mentor Pairing services as well as Industry/Job Placement opportunities – with a view to equipping Learners/Apprentices with Improved skills, customer service, access to job opportunities and increased exposure.
